Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in our Volunteer Program at Life Transitions Center (LTC). Everyone at LTC wears many different hats, and as part of our volunteer network you will have the opportunity to become involved in various aspects of the organization.
After receiving your completed application, we will let you know when the next training will take place. Your volunteer orientation will include a tour and a Volunteer Training Manual which includes a list of available volunteer opportunities. Volunteers are essential to our missions. We look forward to welcoming you.
Below are some of the volunteer opportunities available to you at Life Transitions Center.
Administrative Support - are volunteers who assist with the administrative workings of the program, or help with City Campus events. These volunteers do everything from staffing the reception desk, answering telephones, and greeting members, to helping with mailings and setting up and assisting with pot luck dinners. Many City Campus volunteers help to plan and participate in fundraising and special events.
Workshop Volunteers - are volunteers who have an area of expertise that they wish to share with LTC members in a workshop, lecture, class or activity. For example: yoga, tai chi, meditation, art, book club, jewelry making, lectures about: how to talk to your doctor, insurance issues, and are facilitated by workshop volunteers. All of our workshops are self-skill oriented so that members learn the tools to help themselves. No soliciting of any kind is allowed.
Kids Kitchen Volunteers - work with children or teen members in our weekly Kids Kitchen workshops. A background check, and separate training, in addition to general volunteer training, is required for all volunteers working with children or teens.
Community Relations Volunteers - are volunteers who participate in community outreach activities. They distribute LTC materials, staff information tables at health fairs, and speak to groups on behalf of LTC. One of the most important things volunteers do for LTC is to spread information about LTC and its mission.
I am under the age of 16; How can I volunteer with Life Transitions Center?
- Plan craft activities for Kids Kitchen
- Bake a dozen cookies and drop them off for our kitchen
- Hold a fundraiser in your school and donate the proceeds to LTC
- Provide entertainment (music, dance etc.) for one of our potluck suppers
- Invite a LTC staff member to speak to community groups of which you or your family are members
- Be a spokesperson in the community; let people know what LTC provides, that we are free, and that we welcome anyone living with cancer, their families, and their friends.
If you are interested in finding out how you can help, please call the Volunteer Office at 989-2018. Click here to download an application (PDF).

What an amazing collection of people! I don't want this to end. I feel that this program and the wonderful people brought a real turning point in my family's grieving process. For some reason, it allowed us to smile more about this awful situation. Thank you will never be enough. I look forward to paying it forward with Life Transitions Center in the future.

"Thank You for Planet Kid and Camp Blue Skies. I just picked up my daughter, Sydney, from camp. She had an amazing time and can't wait to come back next year. Actually she wants to become a counselor there once she turns 18 in 10 years!!! Thanks so much for all of your help. 10 months ago when we lost my Mom, I never imagined it could turn into so many positive experiences for my girl. God Bless you all. xoxo"
